Each of the five of us carefully chose ten songs from a pool of 43 (which included the five songs from the studio side of Alive II and the songs from the four solo albums) and in our imaginations those ten songs would have comprised The Great Lost KISS Album of 1978. Once the ten songs had been chosen our task became the sequencing of the album, five songs on Side One, five songs on Side Two. The ten songs were chosen within parameters which were defined based upon precedents set by previous (and future circa 1978) KISS albums:
- At least two songs each by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons.
- No more than three songs by Ace Frehley.
- At least one song sung by Peter Criss, with the option of making it a song written by Paul or Ace but sung by Peter.

No more than 3 songs by Ace.
At least 1 song sung by Peter with the OPTION of making it a song written by Paul or Ace to be sung by Peter (think "Mainline" or "Getaway").
In this alternate reality Alive II is all "live" and includes Take Me, Hooligan, etc. Double Platinum comes later. And KISS Meets The Phantom of the Park is actually good.

So mine was:
ReplyDeleteSide A:
Rip it out
Larger than life
Radioactive (no string intro)
Mr. Make Believe
New York Groove
Side B:
It's Alright
Burnin' Up with Fever (no stupid countdown or guitar intro)
What's on Your Mind? (sung by Peter)
Love in Chains
Tonight You Belong to Me
BJ, I love how we talked about how awesome it'd be if "Tonight You Belong to Me" was the last song and how it was just an epic closer. I believe in that very much. Agreed with a few men who pointed this out that "NY Groove" would've been huge as a single which would lead to Ace's departure. I didn't think about how every KISS record begins with a Paul song...oops. The order was brutal for me.
Great idea, great show, I was surprised about the different versions. Here is mine:
DeleteSide 1
Introactive (The "horror-intro" from radioactive 1:04 min., then straight into)
Rip It Out
Wouldn´t You Like To Know Me (1st singe with side B Snow Blind)

Side 2

Thanks guys for the entertaining show every month.
